Chapter 1 – When We First Met
Ryan sat alone in his room. In his hand, he held a small ring. The ring was shiny, but his eyes were full of tears. Many years ago, he bought that ring for Sophie. He wanted to marry her. He loved her more than anything. But now, she was gone. Sometimes, he closed his eyes and saw her face. Sometimes, he asked himself, “Why did I let her go?”
Ryan never believed in love before he met Sophie. He was busy with his work and his friends. He thought love was just a feeling that came and went. But everything changed the day he saw her for the first time. She was sitting alone, reading something quietly. There was peace on her face that pulled him close. He didn’t know why, but he wanted to talk to her. He wanted to know her name, her voice, her smile.
Their first talk was short but warm. Ryan said, “You always sit here alone?” Sophie smiled and said, “Yes, I like silence. It helps me think.” Her voice was soft, and Ryan felt something strange inside his chest. From that day, he began to notice her more. He would wait near the café, hoping she came again. Every time she smiled, his heart felt alive. Sophie also started to notice him. She liked his kindness and how he listened when she talked.
Days turned into weeks. They became friends, but inside, both felt something more. They texted each other late at night, talked about dreams, about life, about family. Ryan said once, “You know, when you talk, I forget everything else.” Sophie laughed, “Then maybe you should talk to me every day.” That night, he couldn’t sleep. He kept reading her messages again and again. He didn’t want this feeling to end.
One day, Ryan brought her coffee. She smiled and said, “You remembered my favorite flavor.” He said, “I remember everything about you.” Both laughed, but deep inside, they were falling in love. Their friends started teasing them. Everyone around could see what was happening, but they didn’t say it aloud. They were scared to lose the friendship, yet they couldn’t hide their feelings. Their hearts already knew the truth.
Then one evening, Ryan finally said it. His voice was shaking when he whispered, “Sophie, I think I love you.” She looked at him for a moment, quiet and still. Then she said softly, “I was waiting to hear that.” Ryan smiled, and both of them felt something pure, something real. It was the kind of love that makes everything feel right. No noise, no confusion, just two hearts finding peace.
After that day, their lives changed. They became inseparable. They called each other every morning. They shared every small detail. Ryan would say, “You make me feel like home.” Sophie replied once, “You are my favorite person in this world.” Their love was full of warmth, not drama. They supported each other’s dreams. Ryan wanted to start his career, and Sophie wanted to design clothes. They both promised to help each other grow.
Sometimes they fought, but they always made peace before sleeping. Sophie once said, “If you ever stop loving me, tell me. Don’t hide it.” Ryan smiled, “That day will never come.” She believed him because his eyes looked honest. They were young, full of hope, and believed their love was unbreakable. Every plan they made was together. Every dream had both names written on it. They thought nothing could ever separate them.
But life doesn’t always move as we wish. Time changes, and people change too. Yet at this moment, they were perfect. Two people, deeply in love, thinking they had forever. Sophie wrote in her diary that night, “I think I found the one I was waiting for.” And Ryan told his friend, “She’s the reason I wake up smiling.”
Their love was young, real, and full of light. They didn’t know what was waiting ahead. But in that time, it felt like their hearts had found their home. It was not a movie. It was not a dream. It was the beginning of something that would change their lives forever.
